The Rutgers–Camden U-RISE program provides training, support, and mentorship for undergraduates interested in pursuing a PhD in the biomedical sciences with the ultimate goal of enhancing inclusion in the biomedical sciences. The Rutgers–Camden U-RISE program starts in the summer before the student’s Junior year and continues for two consecutive years. All U-RISE scholars take part in activities (academic skill building, presentation at conferences, monthly career development meetings, etc) and year-round research at Rutgers–Camden, Rowan University, Thomas Jefferson University, or the University of Pennsylvania that will build their credentials for graduate school applications. The goal of the program is to build a foundation of experience for our scholars to be accepted and then excel in PhD programs.
The Rutgers Camden U-RISE is the second phase of the Rutgers Camden MARC U-STAR program that ran from 2019 – 2024. In this new phase, we are extending several of the research training opportunities to the STEM community at large. Stay tuned as new components are launched! We recruit four students each year. Application deadline is rolling from January 1, 2025 with a hard deadline of April 1, 2025!
